It’s two wins in five for Joey Barton’s side, who are still in the mix for a play-off spot, wth just three points separating them and sixth-placed Barnsley. Barnsley do have three games in hand and prized away Bobby Thomas from them last week.

Thomas’ recall to Burnley and his swift move to Yorkshire has left Rovers light, but there could be two new faces in the squad come Saturday. Ellery Balcombe has been confirmed as the first signing of the January transfer window, and Jarell Quansah has followed. Here’s the latest team news ahead of kick-off between Rovers and Wycombe.

Bristol Rovers team news

It’s as you were for Rovers with none of the injured players in contention to return for the visit of the Chairboys. Jordan Rossiter is out until the end of the month after suffering an injury against MK Dons in mid-December. It was initially thought that Rossiter might be out with a more severe injury, but a one-month absence was better than expected.

In defence, Lewis Gibson is still out after complaining of a thigh injury on New Year’s Day, forcing him to be substituted off against Cheltenham Town. It is worse than initially thought but it isn’t as serious, and a return could be soon once he resumes full training.

Harry Anderson, who Rovers have began contract talks with, is also out after suffering a spate of injuries this season. Anderson had only returned to action after a long lay-off following an injury against Sheffield Wednesday, but hasn’t played since Cheltenham.

Josh Grant is Rovers’ long-term absentee and is unlikely to play again this season after a cameo appearance against Oxford United. Grant underwent two surgeries for a knee problem, and is recovering well.

As for the potential debuts of their new signings, Ballcombe is in line to be available, as he was signed before the deadline of 12.00 pm on Friday. Jarell Quansah has trained with the club and undergone a medical, and if the paperwork can be submitted and finalised before mid-day, he could feature.

Wycombe Wanderers team news

Former Bristol City defender Alfie Mawson is in contention to face Rovers after a month long lay-off. Mawson has missed their last four matches with a knee problem causing him problems.

Dom Gape has played 12 times this season for Wycombe but has not featured since mid-December and isn’t expected to play a part this season. Tyjay De Baar collapsed in Wycombe’s 1-0 defeat to Plymouth at the end of December and has been recovering at home.
