Bristol Rovers v Cheltenham Town predicted line-up with seven changes tipped for EFL Trophy clash - gallery

Here’s how we think Bristol Rovers will line up against Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy this evening.

Bristol Rovers begin their EFL Trophy campaign against Cheltenham Town under the floodlights at the Memorial Stadium this evening.

The Gas have no league fixture this weekend so this is an opportunity to rotate their side. A few players are missing such as Luca Hoole who is on international duty with Wales under-21’s and Jordan Rossiter who is a long-term absentee.

Some fans are describing this as the best transfer window ever, and there’s a considerable amount of depth to this squad. A few good results need to come sooner rather than later though after a draw with Lincoln City at the weekend.

The EFL Trophy isn’t a priority to most but this is an opportunity for Rovers fans to go to Wembley Stadium under Joey Barton and there’s no reason why they can’t given the depth at his disposal.

Rovers have a few players who may have not had an opportunity in the league but could do with an extended amount of minutes this evening. Several players have made an impact off the substitutes bench, but now are deserving of a start so they can show Barton what they can do. Chelsea loanee Harvey Vale is just one player that has shown a glimmer of what he has to offer, and with already one goal to his name this could be the stage for him to strut his stuff.

Flick through our gallery to see how we think Joey Barton will line his side up tonight, and our reasons behind their inclusions. Do you agree with our selection or do you think that the side will look slightly different?
