Bristol Rovers transfers: 22 players fans want Joey Barton to sign including Everton & West Brom starlets - gallery
Bristol Rovers supporters had a choice of realistically signing one player - and there were interesting suggestions from the fans

Bristol Rovers know their 23 opponents for the 2023/24 League One season, and the early predictions for next season, is that they could be an outsider for promotion.
Sheffield Wednesday's win over Barnsley, and Carlisle United beating Stockport County, meant we knew who Rovers would face next year, and the third tier could be quite open. Derby County are expected to challenge after missing out on the play-offs whilst Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers should be up there again, along with the likes of Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth.
Losing play-off semi-finalists Peterborough United - who squandered a four-goal lead - are changing their squad drastically, and have transfer listed several players, including top scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris. Any move for Clarke-Harris would see the Gas get a bit of money, as they hold a 20% sell on fee on him.
Rovers will be hoping for a quick sale on Clarke-Harris, who should attract interest from Championship clubs. The Pirates themselves have a big summer ahead of them, as they have to identify players that can replace the five loan players who have departed, as well as those who have left on a free transfer like Harry Anderson and Paul Coutts, as well as Glenn Whelan who has retired.
After the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign, we made a big Big Bristol Rovers survey that asked fans questions about key topics, such as how much is Aaron Collins worth, and their expectations for next season. Another fun question we asked was if you could sign one realistic player, who would it be? A lot went for former players, such as Everton loanee Lewis Gibson, whilst there were some interesting names we've not come across before.

1. Alfie May
The 29-year-old is in demand this summer with Derby said to be keen alomg with Charlton. He got 20 goals and three assists for the Robins this season. Photo: Dan Mullan/Getty Images

2. Lewis Gibson
Rovers fans are keen to see Lewis Gibson join on a permanent basis. Everton’s survival could mean that Gibson will be allowed to leave this summer. Photo: Harriet Lander/Getty Images

3. Aden Flint
This is an interesting one... Flint didn’t really endear himself to Rovers fans last month as he showed his City connections. He’s been released by Stoke though, and was an unused substitute for Sheffield Wednesday. Photo: Dan Mullan/Getty Images

4. Josh Coburn
Another loan player that fans want to see come back. Coburn had a good first half of the season, and reached double figures. Middlesbrough’s play-off defeat makes it unlikely he’ll return though. Photo: Stu Forster/Getty Images
