Bristol Rovers sign Derby County and Leyton Orient pair as AI predicts hectic summer transfer window
Bristol Rovers have been relegated from League One along with Shrewsbury Town, Cambridge United and Crawley Town. The Gas weren’t able to stay up and have now slumped into League Two. Burton Albion survived at their expense.
Darrell Clarke has now secured a return to the Memorial Ground. He is back for a second spell having also managed the likes of Port Vale, Walsall, Cheltenham Town and Barnsley in the past. The Pirates have a busy summer ahead of them now on the transfer front.

Bristol Rovers defensive and midfield signings predicted by AI
Cameron Dawson (Rotherham United, goalkeeper). Bristol Rovers need to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer and Dawson could be ideal. He joined the Millers last summer but has been in and out of their team. The stopper rose up through the academy ranks at Sheffield Wednesday and went on to play 129 matches for the Owls’ first-team during his days at Hillsborough, as well as having loan spells away at Plymouth Argyle, Alfreton Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Chesterfield and Exeter City.
Carl Piergianni (Stevenage, centre-back). The 33-year-old has bags of experience in the game and could be a shrewd addition for the Gas. He has been with Stevenage since 2022 and knows what it takes to get promoted out of the fourth tier. The veteran has also played for the likes of Peterborough United, Stockport County, Salford City and Oldham Athletic in the past.
Joe Morrell (free agent, midfielder). He remains without a club and could be a smart pick-up by the Pirates. They wouldn’t have to pay a fee to get him which would be a bonus. Portsmouth cut ties with him just over 12 months ago and he still hasn’t found a new home which is a surprise.

Joe Piggott (Leyton Orient, striker). The striker is due to return to Leyton Orient when his loan at AFC Wimbledon ends. He is facing an uncertain future at Brisbane Road and could be worth a look by Bristol Rovers. If he joined Clarke’s side, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch which would be useful.
Omar Bogle, (Crewe Alexandra, striker). He has been around the block in the Football League and is another forward who AI believe the Gas could snap up. The 31-year-old, like Piggott, would boost their attacking department and offer something different. He has fired 163 goals in 474 matches so far and has played in the Championship.
Tom Barkhuizen, (Derby County, winger). His contract at Pride Park expires at the end of next month and he is due to become a free agent as things stand. The former Rotherham man helped the Rams go up last year under former head coach Paul Warne. It remains to be seen at this stage whether he will be offered an extension by John Eustace though.
