Harvey Greenslade says he’s looking forward to reaching his potential after signing a new contract with Bristol Rovers.

The highly-rated 19-year-old has signed a new one-year deal with the club and is the third player to commit his future to the Gas. Senior players Grant Ward and Josh Grant have signed new deals and Greenslade has joined them in committing his short-term future to Rovers.

Greenslade - who made his professional debut for the club against Plymouth Argyle last August - spent the season out on loan in the non-league scene. He first joined Chippenham Town and then excelled at Truro City, and will be hoping to make the breakthrough into the first-team next season.

“I’m really pleased to be able to extend my stay here and I’m excited about what’s to come,” said Greenslade.

“I’m 100% focused on this football club and I’m working hard this off-season to be ready for the campaign ahead.

"I’m looking forward to showing what I can do and to continue improving to reach my potential.

“Hopefully, I can have an impact this season and be able to help this group of lads compete at the top of the table."

Greenslade has been at the club since the age of seven and joins Jerry Lawrence, Luca Hoole and Jed Ward as he academy players to be given a professional contract and considered a first-team member of the squad. He comes from a footballing family with his sister Lily once playing for the club, before joining Bristol City and then Plymouth Argyle.

Rovers await the decision of Ryan Jones, who was also offered a new contract. Jones was signed for an undisclosed fee from Weston-super-Mare, and was a club record for the Seagulls, but the 21-year-old has made just seven senior appearances.

Jones spent the season out on loan at Hungerford Town and scored five goals in 44 appearances but could not keep them up in the National League South.
