It was the same old story for Bristol Rovers and their supporters as they watched their side fail to win on the opening day of the season.

Their opening day curse continued as not since since 2011 have they tasted victory on the opening day of the campaign whilst not since August 2001 have they won their first game at home.

Fellow newly promoted club Forest Green Rovers were victorious at the Memorial Stadium as they scored in the last few moments of regulation time after the Gas had got themselves back level into the game.

After Aaron Collins had cancelled out Jordan Moore-Taylor’s opener, they went in search of a winning goal but instead they could only watch on as Regan Hendry’s moment of brilliance gave FGR their first win at League One level.

Before a ball had been kicked, varying predictions had Joey Barton’s men as the side that would finish the highest out of the four promoted clubs.

But after a win for Ian Burchnall’s side, things have changed and despite it being only one game into the season, those from outside of the club aren’t expecting too much from the Gas.

As there are still plenty of games to go and the chance to right the wrongs of last Saturday against Burton, this can be taken with a pinch of salt.

But for the teams like Derby County and Wycombe Wanderers who won on the opening day they will take this.

Here is what the 2022/23 League One table is predicted to look like after the first round of fixtures were played.
