Bristol Rovers saw off Charlton Athletic at the Memorial Stadium in their final match off 2023.
Chris Martin opened the scoring for Matt Taylor's side as the substitute fired the ball home 20 minutes from time with an emphatic finish on his weaker foot into the top right-hand corner.
The Addicks equalised five minutes from time as Slobodan Tedic scored form pointblank range following an assist from Tyreece Campbell.
Martin scored his and Rovers' second to restore the lead in stoppage time to end the year on a high.
Alfie May almost put the visitors 1-0 up within the opening two minutes of the match, as he hit the bar with a curling right-footed effort, which set the early fiery tone to the encounter.
Rovers grew into the match as Luke Thomas, who looked the most dangerous threat for the hosts in the first-half, flashed an effort across the face of Maynard-Brewer's goal.
Aaron Collins had the ball in the back of the net just before half-time as an Antony Evans' corner met the head of Tristan Crama, who steered it goalward as the Welshman stabbed the ball home, however the referee's assistant flagged for offside, much to the disgust of the Rovers faithful.
