Despite his bit-part role in the team, he is still the most valuable player in the squad, which would be based on his long experience with Stoke City in the Championship and the Premier League.
Football website TransferMarkt which presents information about players, such as their market value and transfer history, have placed valuations on the Gas’ first-team squad.
Whelan is valued at £720,000 and is considerably higher than the nearest placed Aaron Collins, who is statistically the best player in the squad this season.
