Taylor left Rotherham earlier this month with the club currently sitting 23rd in the Championship. The 41-year old also steered Exeter to League One promotion in the 2021/22 season. Summer signing Jevani Brown knows Taylor well as he was prolific for him during the Grecians' 2021-22 League Two promotion season. Many names have been linked with the vacancy in recent weeks, including Garry Monk, Karl Robinson and Dean Holden. But the Rovers hierarchy look set to appoint Taylor as their new man.

Five weeks have passed following the sacking of former boss Joey Barton. Since then the Memorial Stadium outfit have recorded four wins, two draws and just one defeat under Mangan's watch.

Rovers currently sit 11th in the League One table, nine points off the play-off positions. Taylor's first game in charge will be this weekend's FA Cup second-round trip to League Two Crewe.
