Bristol Rovers fixtures announced for 2022/23 League One season as Gas home on opening day

All of Bristol Rovers 2022/23 League One fixtures including Opening Day, Boxing Day and the final day of the season

Bristol Rovers will begin their 2022/23 campaign with a home match against League Two winners Forest Green Rovers n the Sky Bet League One after the SPFL released next season’s league fixtures.

The Gas will open and close their season in front of home supporters at the Memorial Stadium with Forest Green their first opponents of the season and Bolton Wanderers their last on Saturday, May 6.

It is their first season back in the third tier of English football after winning promotion to the third tier. Forest Green were the first team to win promotion last season and did so at the Mem with a goalless draw securing their place before they later went on to win the title.

A first visit to Pride Park in 15-years to face Wayne Rooney’s Derby County in what will be one of the most in demand away games will take place on Saturday, October 29.

Rovers are away on Boxing Day to losing League One play-off finalists Wycombe Wanderers who lost to Sunderland in the play-off final. There are then two home matches over the festive period with a home match against Exeter City on December 29 and then they welcome Cheltenham Town two days later on New Year’s Day.

The Easter period has Rovers at home to Ben Garner’s Charlton Athletic on April 7 which is Good Friday before a return to Highbury Stadium for Joey Barton with a game against Fleetwood Town scheduled for Easter Monday on April 10.

In what is a rare occurance of being both home and away in your opening and closing fixtures, Rovers close out the campaign against one of the league’s divisional favourites Bolton at the Mem.
