Bristol Rovers saw defeat in Matt Taylor's first match in charge as they were knocked out of the EFL Trophy by Crawley Town.
The Gas took the lead on the stroke of half-time as Luke Thomas showed great tenacity and dispossessed Aaron Henry to round Corey Addai and fired into an empty net.
Scott Lindsey's side equalised early in the second-half as Jack Roles smashed the ball past Cox, as he found space on the edge of the Rovers penalty area.
The Gas looked to respond quickly and Harvey Vale was seen to have been brought down by Addai, however the referee waved play on.
The hosts took the lead 20 minutes from time as Harry Forster ran through the heart of Rovers defence and smashed the ball past the helpless Cox.

Vocal between the sticks and his distribution was good. Made some vital saves early in the second-half from point-blank range. Couldn't have done much to keep out the hosts' goals. | Getty Images
