It’s all change at the top of Bristol Rovers as Tom Gorringe has replaced Martyn Starnes as the clubs CEO.

Commercial director Tom Gorringe will replace Starnes at the end of November, after his predecessor resigned, citing ‘personal reasons’ for his departure.

He has been at the Memorial Stadium for over four years and in June 202 was promoted to the board as an executive director, following four years as a commercial director.

With an experience in Marketing, he began working in football with Portsmouth, and in his near four-year spell, oversaw a difficult period with two administrations.

He later moved to Cardiff City where he became Sales and Marketing Manager for two years.

A similar role came when he joined Brighton & Hove Albion, leading their marketing operation, including experience of providing content in the Premier League, before his move to Bristol.

Gas supporters have been able to communicate clearly with Gorringe as he is available on Twitter, providing a clear communication line between fans and the boardroom.

“Since the first day that I stepped foot at this club, I have been struck by the potential and been determined to play my part in unlocking it.

"This is a special club and there is nowhere else I would rather be at this stage of my career than here working on this project.

"To be leading the club during such an exciting time is an honour and I will do everything within my power to help make us as successful as we can be.

"I would like to thank Wael for all of the support he has given me and the faith that he has shown me in offering this opportunity at what is an exciting time for the club.

"By working together, there are no limits to what this club can achieve and I hope that under my leadership the staff, players, supporters and all stakeholders can pull in the same direction to help us progress.”

For the last few months, Gorringe has been tasked with a restructure of the football club, to try and improve the day-to-day running of the club, by improving efficiency.

In addition, owner Wael Al-Qadi said: “I’m delighted to announce the promotion of Tom Gorringe to the CEO position.

"Tom is a trailblazer and over the years that I have worked with him, he has proven to be hard-working, efficient, honest and popular amongst colleagues and the fan base.

"He has successfully implemented many new projects at the club and has impressive leadership qualities.

"I have tasked him to oversee a complete restructure of the organisation, something that is necessary to ensure that the club is operating to the highest possible standards.

"I wish Tom the best of luck in what I hope will be an exciting new era for the club. UTG!”
