Bristol Rovers players and staff continue the off season as they let their hair down before resuming pre-season in the next few weeks.

Plans are already afoot for next season with at least a core squad contracted next season but there are still some gaps to be filled with 13 players not kept on when the retained list was announced back in May.

Last week, Trevor Clarke signed a new deal with the club that will keep him here for another two years and now there is a wait to see who could follow him.

The seven to ten day deadline that was put on Antony Evans and Sam Nicholson has long passed but still we are no nearer to knowing whether the pair will remain at the club.

Below are the headlines of both Bristol Rovers and their League One rivals next season:

Even football managers are allowed some down time and he spent it in the city of Nassau, allowing him to recharge his batteries for what could be another exciting campaign.

Despite it being the off season, he was still engaged in planning for next season and took inspiration from General Stanley McChrystal’s ‘Team of Teams’ book which is a book that gives ‘leaders’ the ability to make their teams more adaptable.

He also took to his tactics book as he prepares for his full second campaign in charge of the team.

Boyle was offered a new contract by the Robins but they were consigned to losing him and he has now officially become a player of the Terriers.

The 26-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal and joins on a free transfer and returns to the club that let him go as a youngster.

Carlos Corberan, head coach of Huddersfield said: “There are many people at this Club who know Will very well as a player and person and everything I have been told shows him to be the ideal character for our squad.”

Boye had been at Cheltenham since 2017 and made just under 200 appearances for Cheltenham. He was named in the Team of the Year last season and won the League Two title.

Recently released Charlton defender not focusing on club future

Chris Gunter, who is currently on international duty with the Welsh national team, hasn’t yet made a decision on his club future.

Released by Charlton Athletic, Gunter has the task this summer of finding a new club after a few years at The Valley.

The 32-year-old is Wales’ most capped men’s player with 108 caps for the Red Dragons, but a move will be needed if he wants to be involved at the World Cup in Qatar.

Before Wales’ last two matches with Poland and Ukraine, he said: “The season has only just finished and I knew these games were here.

“Talks and conversations (with potential new clubs) happen after these games, definitely not before or during. “Let’s focus on a huge month for Wales, hopefully have a bit of holiday and then start again.”

Cambridge United to focus on permanent market

Mark Bonner, head coach of Cambridge United, says he wants his side to focus more on permanent transfers this season.

Last year he made five loan additions including the signings of Jensen Weir from Brighton & Hove Albion and Sam Sherring from AFC Bournemouth.

Explaining why to CambridgeshireLive, he said: “It’s certainly not something that we’re actively looking at right now, and I think loans for us probably will take a little bit longer.

“It certainly won’t be one that we do early. “I’m a bigger fan of having players that are your own and belong to your club, because I think that creates a real connection, and they’re completely committed to the club.”
