Bristol Rovers average home attendance this season compared to Derby, Bolton, Ipswich and Charlton - gallery

Bristol Rovers regularly fill out the Memorial Stadium - but where do they fall on the attendances table?

Supporters take great pride in having the best attendances in the division, especially in League One where there are some massive clubs. The common chant heard at grounds is ‘Is that all you take away...’?

Teams like Charlton AthletiDerby County, Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley all once played in the Premier League but are now all in the third tier trying to get back to where they think that they belong. All clubs have sizeable support and that has helped finance their promotion pushes on the pitch.

Using FootballWebPages for reference, we've been able to rank the average attendance of every League One club against one another. Bristol Rovers - despite being limited by capacity - find themselves in the top ten - and just outside the play-offs, but against the big clubs they find their average attendance almost trippled. Some clubs don’t have to contend with other professional teams being in their city whilst others boast an impressive level of support, despite having teams in the same town or city as them and being in a higher division.

It's stressed the need for a new stadium, as for some of these clubs they don't want to remain in the third tier, and want to get back to the Championship. Plenty of clubs will sell out their away allocation which is usually around 1,200 with Ipswich and Portsmouth, two of the next big clubs to come to the Memorial Stadium. Some matches this season have been complete sell-outs, and the club are exploring options in increasing their capacity, though that is unlikely to come in until after the 2022/23 season has concluded.
