Bristol Rovers attacker Aaron Collins has been nominated for the League One Player of the Month award for August.

The forward has adapted well to the step up a division to the third tier after helping Joey Barton’s side win promotion from League Two last season.

He scored three goals and assisted two in five games last month as he looks to beat his tally of 18 from the last campaign.

Nominations

Collins will be going up against three other players in his quest to win Player of the Month.

Sheffield Wednesday right-back Liam Palmer, Cambridge United striker Sam Smith and Peterborough United wing-back Joe Ward have all also been nominated.

Bristol Rovers are 16th in the table after the opening six matches but are only four points off the play-offs.

The Pirates swooped to sign Collins in June last year following the expiration of his contract at Forest Green Rovers.

He has quickly become a key player at the Memorial Ground and is someone who they will want to keep hold of for as long as possible.

Prior to his move to the Gas, he also had spells at Newport County, Wolves, Notts County, Newport County and Morecambe.

Bristol Rovers drew their last game 2-2 at home to the latter and are back in action this weekend away at MK Dons.

They will know if Collins has won Player of the Month by the time they lock horns with the Dons with the winner announced on Friday (9th September).
