Revealed: How £5m former Wolves man compares to former Bristol Rovers forwards over years

Aaron Collins has done an splendid job with Bristol Rovers, this season, contributing to 24 goals in his first year in League One.

Aaron Collins has been in exceptional form for Bristol Rovers this season, and is a shoe-in for the club's Player of the Season award, given his exploits in League One this season.

The Gas suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Morecambe on Saturday, with the only saving grace being that Collins was on the score sheet for the 14th time this season. He is just two shy of what he achieved in League Two last season, which is incredible given that he has gone up a division, and has not had experience of playing in the third tier before. He is one behind former Rovers striker Jonson Clarke-Harris in the race for the Golden Boot.

The 25-year-old isn't just goals however, as he also creates them, with 10 assists to his name, putting his tally at 24 goal contributions this season. His form has seen him valued at £5m by Joey Barton, who believes he merits the same price as what Burnley paid for Scott Twine in the summer. Collins is one of the leading players in League One, but despite that there has not been any speculation about him leaving the Memorial Stadium, which is music to the Gasheads' ears, who want to keep him for a long time.

The Welsh forward is for certain a fan favourite at the moment, and is the spearhead of this youthful Rovers team, which is battling for a play-off spot. How does Collins however compare against the forwards of yesteryear? Rickie Lambert and Matty Taylor are just two names who had brilliant individual seasons, and become the focal point of teams of the past.

Collins' season is not over either, he still has 18 games to play, and so this is how he currently stacks up against those who have come before him.
