ROVERS PLAYER RATINGS: Centre-back James Wilson leads from the front to inspire victory

Josh Griffiths (8) - The Rovers No1 was inspired, halting almost every threat Barnsley posed and his first-half heroics laid the foundations for victory.

Lino Sousa (7) - A solid defensive display from the full-back and prevented Barnsley’s right hand side from making a detrimental impact on the game.

Connor Taylor (7) - The centre back deserves plenty of credit for preventing Tykes top scorer Keillor-Dunn from boosting his goals tally for the seaon.

James Wilson (9) - Is there no end to this man’s talents? He not only kep Barnsley at bay by commanding a solid rearguard action but also a huge threat in the final third while picking up two assists.

Taylor Moore (7) - Another fine defensive effort from the former City centre-back.

Romaine Sawyers (6.5) - Made some individual mistakes while on the ball, however he had fantastic moments up until he was withdrawn late on.

Grant Ward (7.5) - The midfielder made an excellent contribution adding much needed energy to the centre of the field whilst also picking up an assist.

Isaac Hutchinson (8) - The 24-year-old played with freedom as well as confidence and his goal suggests he could become a key player for Inigo Calderon.

Luke Thomas (7) - Despite not finding a goal or an assist, the ex-Barnsley winger’s contribution will not go unnoticed providing a consistent threat on the flanks.

Gatlin O’Donker (8) - O’Donker was the catalyst amongst the three goalscorers after putting his side 1-0 ahead with Gas fans giving the striker a warm ovation for his hard working performance.

Chris Martin (6) - The Scotsman would find a difficult task ahead of him after replacing goalscorer Isaac Hutchinson but the forward provided an aerial presence to see Rovers home.

Ruel Sotiroui (8) - The substitute was able to come on and make an instant impact by sealing the Rovers win with a goal off of the bench.

Clinton Mola (6) - The defender provided much needed defensive stability when he entered the fray.
