Where Bristol City, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and others are predicted to finish in next season’s Championship

Already people are trying to predict the outcome of the 2022/23 Championship

The 24-team make-up of who Bristol City will be playing in the 2022/23 Championship has been finalised after Nottingham Forest’s play-off win over Huddersfield Town.

After more than two decades of absence from the Premier League, the Reds will be in English football’s elite once again whilst for the Terriers, it’s another season in the second tier.

An unfortunate own goal from Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill was the difference at Wembley Stadium and now Carlos Corberán will have to motivate his side to go one further.

With the dust just settled on the season, already the bookmakers have started trying to predict what will happen this time next year.

The likes of Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers are managerless after parting company with Tony Mowbray and Mark Warburton, aren’t fancied at the moment. The Hoops are closing in on the appointment of Aston Villa coach Michael Beale however.

It comes as no surprise that Watford and Norwich City, who were recently relegated, are up there. For Burnley who finished 19th and are also without a manager but close to appointing Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany, they may have to settle for the play-offs but things may change once the Belgian is confirmed.

For the Robins meanwhile, those from outside of the club are predicting a difficult campaign for Nigel Pearson’s side.

Despite earning a 17th placed finish in the midst of navigating their way through Financial Fair play and improving on last season, a relegation battle has been predicted for them, despite the astute additions of Mark Sykes and Kal Naismith.

It’s early days so far and the transfer window hasn’t officially opened yet so take these with a pinch of salt as clubs begin to signal their plans for the upcoming campaign.
