Where Bristol City are now tipped to finish after 2022/23 Championship fixtures are released

THE Championship fixtures for the 2022-23 season have been unveiled - so how are Bristol City expected to fare this time around and should the fans be demanding more?

Bristol City under Nigel Pearson in his first full season in charge finished in 17th after trimming the wage bill with some key departures whilst integrating youth players into the side.

For the first time since 2015, City will begin their season on the road with a trip up north to face one of Pearson’s old clubs Hull City.

City comfortably disposed of the Tigers in their penultimate fixture and final home game, winning 5-0 in a sublime performance that gave fans some end of season excitement.

August could be a busy month with eight potential fixtures whilst there are at six fixtures confirmed, including a Severnside Derby against Cardiff City at Ashton Gate.

The start is perhaps favourable given they are facing two of the recently promoted teams in Sunderland and Wigan Athletic, whilst Blackpool finished lowly last year.

But the end of season run-in has them up against Stoke City who have been strong in the market, as well as Middlesbrough, recently relegated Watford and Burnley, as well as losing play-off finalists Sheffield United.

Supporters’ optimism has continued to grow after the astute transfer business that has been conducted early.

Mark Sykes from Oxford United, Luton Town’s Kal Naismith and a steal of a signing of Kane Wilson from Forest Green Rovers have got fans excited about the season ahead.
