Tommy Conway was handed his second consecutive start for Bristol City yesterday as they hosted Luton Town in the Championship.

After two defeats in their opening fixtures, the 20-year-old was brought into the fold and has now appeared in four matches so far this season - equalling his tally for the whole of the previous Championship campaign.

The forward earned his place in the line-up after bagging a brace in City’s Carabao Cup tie with Coventry City and went onto pay Nigel Pearson back for his faith in him by bagging the Robins’ second goal against the Hatters.

Despite only making nine appearances in the Championship prior to this season, Conway has lit up Ashton Gate in only a matter of weeks.

Who is Tommy Conway?

Tommy Conway has only just turned 20 years old and has been with Bristol City since joining the academy at the age of 7.

According to Soccor Wiki, the youngster is 183cm (6ft).

The forward has enjoyed two separate loan spells during his senior career with Yate Town and Bath City, scoring nine goals in 13 appearances for the latter before returning to Ashton Gate in January.

He then went onto make his professional debut with Bristol City in a 3-1 defeat to Millwall in April 2021, before scoring his first goal in another loss to Millwall a month later.

Despite a strong end to the 2020/21 season with City, Conway only made five appearances across the whole of the following campaign and failed to score throughout.

The Robins star will now be hopeful of making this season his time to breakthrough and make an impact on the first team, however will have to keep at his best to battle the likes of Nakhi Wells, Alex Scott and Joe Williams for a place in the line-up.
