Former Bristol City and Norwich City defender retires at 36


Former Bristol City defender Timm Klose has announced time on his playing career.
The 36-year-old was at Bristol City from January 2022 to January 2023, and he made 30 appearances having been signed by Nigel Pearson. After leaving City in 2023, Klose was playing for Basel's reserve team in the 'Promotion League' which is the third tier of Swiss football.

Hide AdHe had played nine games this term, but having captained the side to a goalless draw against FC Zurich last Saturday, Klose decided that would be his last appearance in professional football. A senior career that began in 2009 comes to an end after 15-years, with the Switzerland international now focusing on projects he has already been working on in the background of his playing career.
Taking to his personal Instagram account to reveal the news, he said: “That’s it, folks.
“After many years, a great journey is coming to an end. It hasn’t always been all rainbows and sunshine, but even the hard and rocky times have shaped me into who I am today.
"I would like to thank my family and friends who have always supported me, [agency] Giallanzasport, who has opened doors for me and has always been by my side, no matter what the situation!"

Hide AdHis career finishes having made earned 17 caps for his country, and having made 438 club appearances. Klose's career saw him play in Switzerland, Germany, and England. It was Norwich in which he spent the longest part of his career.
He appeared 128 times for the Canaries and won promotion to the Premier League with them in 2019. Klose also got to lift the DFB-Pokal with VfL Wolfsburg in 2015, and tasted promotion with FC Thun in 2010.
