Bristol City have decided to give centre-back Timm Klose a contract until the end of the season after the defender underwent a successful trial spell.

The 33-year-old is contracted to the Robins until the end of the current season and has been signed with enough time that he could make his debut against Preston North End.

A season ending injury to Nathan Baker, as well as niggling injuries for Rob Atkinson and Ryley Towler have meant cover is needed at the back.

“I’ve played here several times and it’s always a hard place to play because they have a good squad and a good mentality,” said Klose to Robins TV.

“The lads have excepted me in very well, and with the new training facilities that helped me get a very good look at everything.

“You can sense there is something going on here and that’s why I think it’s the right decision to join here.”

Klose had been without a club since the summer after he was released by Norwich City a year before his contract was due to run out.

The Swiss defender had been keeping himself fit back in his native homeland but this week arrived at the High Performance Centre to show Nigel Pearson and his coaching staff what he could do.

Klose has played for the Canaries in the Premier League and won promotion with them back in the 2018/19 season, winning the Championship title.

In his years at Norwich, he has wracked up more than 100 appearances in England’s second tier and has also made more than 17 appearances for his country.
