The staggering costs for every Championship side when dealing with agents - eye-catching cost for Fulham

The Football Association announced annual figures for February to January this year

Bristol City paid out over £1m to football agents last year for the past three transfer windows, but remain far behind the big-spending Championship sides.

A recent report published by the English FA have shown how much the Championship clubs paid to agent from February 2021 to January 2022.

It coincides when Nigel Pearson took over and in the summer they exchanged transfer fees for the likes of Rob Atkinson from Oxford United and George Tanner who joined from Carlisle United.

There were also free agent signings like the extension of Nathan Baker and Danny Simpson, as well as former Leicester City duo Matty James and Andy King.

Timm Klose, who joined on a six-month deal in January on a free transfer after leaving Norwich City, will have also have been included in the fees.

There will have been contract renewals for the likes of Tyreeq Bakinson, who is out on loan at Ipswich Town, as well as star boy Alex Scott and Andi Weimann.

The period is too late to include Cameron Pring and Chris Martin’s new deals and that will come next year, but despite the quietness in the past window, they have still had to deal with the middle man when trying to recruit new players as well as keep their existing ones.

City are one of the sides that are towards the lower half of the table but teams like Fulham, West Browmich Albion and Sheffield United who were relegated from the Premier League, they conducted a number of deals.

The aforementioned teams will have been in receipt of parachute payments from English football’s top tier, which has created a gulf between those who receive it and those who don’t.
