The players Nigel Pearson could reunite with at Bristol City with big summer ahead

Some transfer targets may be more obvious than others as Bristol City seek some summer sales

Bristol City have already began their summer transfer business with the addition of Mark Sykes.

The 24-year-old arrived on a three-year deal from Oxford United on a free transfer that fits the bill of what the Robins are looking for in a player.

“We want people to come in and have something to prove and are ambitious,” said Nigel Pearson before Sykes was officially confirmed as the first arrival of the summer.

City’s latest edition is somewhat of a utility man and can play in a variety of roles but his most natural position is on the right-wing, though he can play centrally and at times at wing-back.

Defence is an area of the pitch that is for certain going to be strengthened to the best of City’s ability.

But given the success of the formidable attacking trio of Andi Weimann, Antoine Semenyo and Chris Martin, it’s expected that no striker will come through the door.

That still leaves midfield to be strengthened in however and there may be a desire to find another central midfielder with Han-Noah Massengo’s future up in the air, with a year left on his contract.

This will be just the third transfer window under Pearson and so far there’s been more success with other players than there has been there own, but there has been shining lights like Robert Atkinson.

But also players like Danny Simpson, who had a less than memorable spell at Ashton Gate.

Managers will have a contacts book and a list of trusted players they can take to any club they manage at and that could happen again.

Below are some players that Bristol City could look to sign this summer having worked under Nigel Pearson.
