Influential Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott is one booking away from a two-game suspension and will have to walk a disciplinary tightrope for the next month.

The 19-year-old has played a key part in City’s upturn in form with Nigel Pearson’s side unbeaten in ten matches across all competitions. He scored his first goal of the campaign against West Brom, and has five assists to his name this season, matching his goal contributions from his breakout campaign last year.

Scott was last booked for a scuffle with Ched Evans away at Preston earlier this month, and the former Manchester City striker was handed a four-match ban for his part. Since then, he has come through matches against Norwich City and Wigan Athletic unscathed, despite being on the receiving end of a heavy tackle against the Canaries.

A player receives a one-game suspension if they accumalate five yellow cards, yet that is only up until the 19th league game of the season, which is near the half-way point. The next and final punishment for yellow cards is a three-game suspension if a player reaches 15 bookings before the end of the campaign.

However, regulations state there is a cut-off point up until the 37th league game of the campaign, which City will reach when their match with Luton Town concludes on Wednesday, March 15. If the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ can avoid picking up a yellow card against Sunderland, Hull City, Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Blackpool and Luton Town then he will not have to worry about missing the a chunk of the last few fixtures of the season.

Scott has missed just on league match this season which was against Coventry City after picking up five yellow cards before October. He would not miss the glamour FA Cup clash with Manchester City if he was booked against Sunderland or Hull City.

Alex Scott needs to avoid bookings against:

• Sunderland (A) - 18/02

• Hull City (H) - 25/02

• Cardiff City (A) - 04/03

• Huddersfield Town (A) - 07/03

• Blackpool (H) - 11/03

• Luton Town (A) - 15/03

As for the other players in the squad that are at risk of suspension, captain Andi Weimann, Matty James and Cameron Pring are all on four yellow cards each, but fortunately for them they would have to rack up six more if they were to miss two games.
