Bristol City endured another unsuccessful trip to South Wales on Sunday, but how does the defeat impact their likely final position?

City were defeated again across the bridge in their final outing before the international break, losing to Swansea City to make it back-to-back defeats and three losses in five games. The result means the Robins are in 14th place going into the break, 12 points above the relegation zone - all-but safe - and just as far from the play-offs.

Nigel Pearson’s men look to be heading for a mid-table season, and they need just seven more points to match their disappointing campaign of last. But where does the supercomputer think they will end up?

According to FiveThirtyEight, City can look forward to a 15th place finish, and with just three more points than last season. It’s predicted that Swansea will jump above Pearson’s men between now and the end of the season, with Hull City and Birmingham City below.

That would represent a disappointing campaign again for City, with little improvement from the last, though, they do still have Middlesbrough, Watford, Sheffield United and Burnley to play, so 10 points from the next eight games may not be such a bad finish to the season.

As for the rest of the Championship, Burnley and Sheffield United are understandably predicted to make the top two, with Middlesbrough, Luton Town, Millwall and Blackburn Rovers making the top six.
