Revealed: How Andreas Weimann measures up against other Bristol City top scorers over the years
Andreas Weimann has done an plendid job with Bristol City this season, reaching 20 goals after recovering from an ACL injury
Andreas Weimann has been ‘dynamite’ for Bristol City this season and is all but a shoe in for the clubs Player of the Season award given his goal scoring exploits.
The Austrian grabbed his 20th goal of the season over the weekend following a 3-1 away win for the Robins against his former side Derby County.
Weimann has performed brilliantly to achieve this landmark and it is made all the more impressive that the former Aston Villa man recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury last season, limiting him to just seven appearances and none under Nigel Pearson.
His goals for a side that are 17th in the Championship, are impressive and whilst Aleksandr Mitrovic will rightfully get the plaudits for his goals for Fulham, the Austrian can be proud of how he has performed.
Twenty goal a season strikers are hard to come by and in Weimann’s case, he’s not even an out-and-out striker, as he plays more of a supportive role to Chris Martin and Antoine Semenyo, whilst he has also been a wing-back.
Over the years though, City have struck gold with some strikers, who have been prolific in front of goal, helping the club to glory. For every good forward there is sometimes a not so much success story, where they’ve failed to even get double figures.
As the season soon draws to a close, we compare the achievements of Weimann to the other top scorers at the club over the past 20 seasons and see how he stacks up against them.
