Revealed: Championship, League One & League Two’s best young XI - including Bristol City, Derby & Watford stars

One Bristol City star is included in the EFL’s Best Under-21’s XI

The three divisions of the English Football League is an obvious platform for young players. It has helped launch the careers of many England national team players including captain Harry Kane and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

It is Youth Development week in the EFL, as they celebrate clubs and players who have given youngsters a chance. Bristol City are one of those clubs who in recent years have turned to their academy to fill in the gaps of their senior team. Earlier this season, Tommy Conway was named the best Young Player of the EFL for the month of September. His goals helped earn him a call up to the Scotland under-21's team and he has not looked back since.

Conway shares a house with his Robins teammate Alex Scott, who is highly rated by City chiefs. First-team manager Nigel Pearson and academy boss Brian Tinnion believes he will one day play for England. Scott has already featured for the Under-19's and was successful in the Euros this summer.

Scott had a brilliant breakout year for the Robins and has continued his form into this season. The 19-year-old has got three assists this year and is 11th out of the whole Championship for tackles, which shows how he can mix-and-match his game. His performances last year reportedly attracted the interest of Leeds United, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

The player dubbed 'the Guernsey Grealish' has found his way in to the EFL's Best XI of Under-21 players this season, along with some players from Derby County and Watford.

The criteria for the starting XI is that players are either aged 21-years-old or under and that they must have made a minimum of ten league appearances. Here we take a look at the team, ranked by WhoScored, which is an official data partner of the EFL. Let us know what you think of the team.
