Bristol City team news

Ayman Benarous is a long-term absentee. He’s not played a competitive match since suffering an ACL injury at the end of the 2021/22 season. Cam Pring sustained an injury to the bottom half of his leg against Cardiff City and was given a six-week time frame for a return. It required surgery, and up until that point Pring had been ever-present.

Scott Twine missed out against Middlesbrough, Stoke City, and Leeds United through injury. Sam Bell is another player that Bristol City will have to do without.

Ross McCrorie is facing a spell out on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. He was withdrawn early against Leeds United last week. Centre-back Rob Atkinson is back in training after a lengthy layoff.

Haydon Roberts and Rob Dickie are both back in training and pushing towards a return. Speaking to the Bristol Post, Chris Hogg said: “It’ll be a case of training, seeing how they look… making sure that they’ve done enough to try and be back and part of the squad.

“They both look in good condition and the medical staff and the sports science staff have done a good job with them.”

Out: Scott Twine, Sam Bell, Ross McCrorie, Ayman Benarous, and Cameron Pring Doubt: Rob Dickie, Haydon Roberts, and Rob Atkinson

Preston North End team news

Will Keane remains sidelined but is making progress as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Keane has been out for the last six matches and was given an eight-week time frame for a return.

“Keano is coming along well and hitting every marker put down,” said assistant manager Stuart McCall.

“He is probably a few days ahead of where he should be, so I would like to think we’ll be seeing him in the next couple of weeks

Ched Evans is getting closer towards a return to action too. The player-coach hasn’t played a single minute of first-team football this season, because of a knee issue, but has been spotted in training, and is getting there.

Robbie Brady has recently entered the treatment room after suffering a serious injury. He will be out for an extended period after damaging ligaments in his ankle. He was seen wearing a protective boot following the draw at Plymouth Argyle.

Brad Potts had recently been contending with a foot injury, but has been a substitute in the last two games, and so he’s available. Milutin Osmajic’s suspension continues, but he will be available for selection once again after the international break.

Centre-back Patrick Bauer is sidelined with an elbow injury. Bauer was frozen out under the previous regime but was afforded an opportunity, however, he got injured against Fulham and required surgery.

Out: Will Keane, Ched Evans, Robbie Brady, Patrick Bauer and Milutin Osmajic.
