Bookies' new predicted Championship table after Bristol City and Millwall win as Norwich City and Middlesbrough taste defeat

Bristol City put in a gritty performance to defeat Preston North End at the weekend.

Bristol City continued their good form as they stretched their unbeaten run to eight games after defeating Preston North End 3-1.

The Robins took the lead in controversial fashion as Yu Hirakwa scored with a goal that many believe was a blatant handball. Sam Greenwood equalised for the hosts, but Nahki Wells restored the lead a few moments later, and then Max Bird made sure of the victory 10 minutes from time.

City find themselves just two points off of the play-offs, and are currently eighth in the league standings. Liam Manning in his post-match press conference spoke of how the game wasn’t pretty, but they reacted to moments during the game.

“I am really pleased and really proud of the players today, “said Manning to BBC Radio Bristol.

“It was not the prettiest game at times but we managed it quite well, especially with the changes we had to make.

“The lads showed what we are about in terms of problem solving, and the second and third goals were moments of real outstanding quality that deserved to win the game.

“We pressed well, and blocked well when we had to. It is a tough place to come, so it was real progress for me in terms of how far we have come, but we still have a way to go.

“The travelling support was phenomenal today, the way they got behind the lads was massive and delighted we can send them back home on a long journey happy.”

Elsewhere in the Championship, Coventry City inflicted a 3-0 defeat on to Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, whilst Severnside rivals Cardiff City defeated Norwich City after coming from behind. Millwall claimed a shock win over automatic promotion chasing Burnley at The Den on Sunday.

Following the latest results, here’s how the bookmakers rate Bristol City’s chances of promotion compared to their rivals. Take a look...
