Pedro Pereira could be set to reunite with a former Bristol City teammate as he closes in on his next move.

Pereira was at Ashton Gate for the first part of the 2019/20 campaign and made 22 appearances in total, scoring two goals and an assist.

Out of his 22 appearances, 15 of them were starts but after a pause in the season, he struggled to get back into the team and was kept out by Jack Hunt.

Now he could be set for a reunion with striker Famara Diedhiou, with whom he played alongside for an entire season.

Diedhiou was City’s top scorer when the pair played together, scoring 13 goals across all competitions. Now the Senegalese forward could have a former teammate come join him out in Turkey.

Alanyaspor have taken a liking to Bristol City players having also had Steven Caulker on their books.

Caulker had been linked with a move back to the West Country this summer but looks set to remain in Turkey and could rejoin Alanyaspor, joining up with Diedhiou and potentially Pereira.

Various reports from abroad including Italian journalist Nicolo Schira say that Pereira is undergoing a medical at the Turkish side of Alanyaspor.

Owned by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, the Portuguese defender helped the club to promotion last year, playing 33 times in their Serie B campaign.

In what was initially a loan and later turned into a permanent move this summer, he now looks to be on the move and will not play in the Italian top flight.

City had one had the opportunity to sign him on a permanent transfer when he joined on loan but opted not to after the asking price of six million euros.

The right-side of defence has been an area that City have struggled with down the years, trying various options such as Danny Simpson, who was released this year.

Currently, there is a battle between Mark Sykes and Kane Wilson for the starting wing-back role. Sykes has been given the starting berth after impressing in pre-season in the absence of Wilson, who was sidelined due to injury.

Wilson started in the Carabao Cup win against Coventry City but has had to settle for substitute appearances so far. The summer signing from Forest Green Rovers could be given his first league start however after Sykes’ red card against Luton Town on Tuesday evening.
