Cardiff City and Swansea City are reportedly interested in taking Bristol City’s Nahki Wells on loan.

Wells, who joined City in January 2020, is currently out of favour at Ashton Gate and has been unable to force his way into the side.

Now late interest has emerged from two of City’s rivals in the table about potentially taking him elsewhere, albeit on a short-term basis

A report from the Telegraph says that both Welsh teams have made enquiries about signing him this week according to journalist Mike McGrath.

It adds that the Robins may allow him to leave on loan having only made one start since November.

Despite the rumoured interest, he was named as a substitute for the away match against Preston North End away at Deepdale.

City have alternated with playing Chris Martin up on his own this season, as well as partnering him with Antoine Semenyo. Young striker Tommy Conway has also been around the first-team picture this season.

The 31-year-old has made 20 league appearances this season but only five of those have been starts and he has scored once, clinching the winning goal against Queens Park Rangers back in September.

Last season, Wells found the back of the net 10 times as he played in all 46 of City's fixtures but hasn’t got the game time that he did in his previous campaign at the club.

Steve Morison’s Cardiff are already in talks to take striker Jordan Hugill on loan from Norwich City after his loan at West Bromwich Albion was cancelled early.

They have already signed Alfie Doughty from Stoke City, as well as Cody Drameh from Leeds United and Tommy Doyle from Manchester City.

Cardiff though do face competition to keep Wales international striker Kieffer Moore after rumoured interest from promotion-chasing AFC Bournemouth.

Both clubs have taken a number of players both directly and indirectly from City in recent years with a number crossing the Severn Bridge.

Cardiff have League One promotion winning duo Aden Flint and Marlon Pack in their ranks, whilst Swansea have Jamie Paterson and Korey Smith, as well as previously having Kasey Palmer on loan.
