Luton Town v Bristol City injury latest as 9 ruled out and 4 doubts

Bristol City travel to Luton Town on Wednesday night with both managers set to make selection calls for the Championship clash.

Nigel Pearson and Rob Edwards are both set to make late selection calls ahead of Wednesday’s Championship meeting between Bristol City and Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Pearson is facing a decision on City midfielder Matty James, after he picked up an ankle injury against Huddersfield Town which caused him to miss the 2-0 win over Blackpool.

“I want him to be fit for the rest of the season. I don’t want to put him at risk for one game and then lose him for a number of games,” said Pearson.

Meanwhile, the Robins will continue to be without long-term absentees Ayman Benarous and Rob Atkinson while Tomas Kalas, Kal Naismith and Tommy Conway are not expected to be fit. Joe Williams is also sidelined, having been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hamstring problem.

Luton boss Edwards will give influential Hatters pair Jordan Clark and Alfie Doughty the best chance of featuring against City. Both missed the 1-0 win at Sheffield United on Saturday.

Reece Burke has missed the last three games with a groin problem and is another player who may be fit.

Edwards said: “We’re going to give them as much time as we can and then see where they’re at. Burkey is another one, we’ll do the same.”

Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu and Dan Potts will miss out, with the former waiting on the results of scan on a knee injury.
