Latest predicted Championship table lands with Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough play-off verdict
Bristol City are close to the play-off places in the Championship
The race for the Championship title is heating up with Leeds United, Sheffield United, Burnley and Sunderland all in the mix for top spot. Blackburn Rovers and West Brom then occupy the final two places in the play-offs.
Bristol City are sat in 9th place in the table ahead of trip to Sheffield Wednesday. They are only four points off the play-offs.
The Robins haven’t had a bad season to date and have the chance to sign some players over the next couple of weeks. They also have the opportunity to let some individuals head out the exit door too.
Bristol City are battling it out with the likes of Middlesbrough, Watford, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich City and QPR for a place in the top six. They lost 1-0 away at Coventry City last time out.
Will Bristol City make the play-offs?
Bristol City are in a strong position to make a good go for it during the second-half of this campaign. They could do with adding a bit more quality to their ranks before the deadline on 3rd February to give themselves the best chance.
Manning is becoming a more experienced manager and will want his side to be more consistent. They were unbeaten in four before their loss at Coventry and could do with getting something at Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking after their loss to the Sky Blues, Manning said: “I thought the game was quite low-quality. The pitch makes it difficult, I don't like to make excuses but they're probably a little bit more used to it and prepared for it. I thought we didn't adjust well enough in terms of unpredictable bounces, and you know, you have to sharpen your focus and take a little bit extra care on doing the basics, which we didn't do well enough.”
He added: “I want to win games. I want to win home and away, but I think priority has to be at home.”
Which Championship clubs will be relegated?
At the bottom end of the table, it has been a tough season for Plymouth Argyle and they are bottom. They are then joined in the drop zone with Luton Town and Portsmouth.
Hull City, Cardiff City, Derby County, Stoke City, Millwall, Preston North End and Oxford United are all looking over their shoulder towards the bottom three. The beauty of the second tier is that anything can happen
