City have lost their last four away matches, whilst improving on their home form with three wins and a draw.

The Championship table has Bristol City two places above Hull with a four point gap separating the two teams. A win for City could take them as high as 13th but a lot will hinge on that, whilst they can only drop as low as 18th if Preston win.

What’s the latest team news for Bristol City?

Not much has changed on the injury front for City. Defender Nathan Baker is expected to be out for a considerable period as he is assessed following a second head injury of the season.

Matty James made a welcome return to action last Saturday but may be managed meaning he may have to settle for a place on the bench. Andy King has made a return to the grass after a hamstring problem and may get a place amongst the substitutes on Saturday or at least against former club Huddersfield.

What’s the latest team news for Hull City?

A big boost for Hull will be the return of striker Tom Eaves, who was absent in their draw with Reading. He returned to training and could be in contention to start against City.

Defender Alfie Jones, who hails from Bristol, has returned to training after a hamstring problem, but Saturday’s game has come too soon for him. Full-backs Josh Emmanuel and Lewie Coyle are also still missing.

Experienced midfielder Tom Huddlestone who has a vast amount of Premier League and Championship games under his belt is pushing for a place in the starting line up.

Keane Lewis-Potter is the player to watch out for in the opposition ranks. The 20-year-old has four goals in 21 appearances this season as well as three assists, placing him as their top scorer and assist man.

Head-to-head

Bristol City possess a good record against Hull in their last six meetings, they have come out unbeaten, winning four games and drawing twice.

Their last meeting came in the 2019/20 season which of course was extended into July because of the pandemic.

Famara Diedhiou and Jamie Paterson scored in a 2-1 win in what was City’s first game without Lee Johnson, with Dean Holden taking charge. The Tigers would be relegated from the Championship just weeks later.

One match that is etched into the minds of many City fans is the play-off final defeat in May 2008 in which Dean Windass scored the only goal in a win which clinched promotion to the Premier League.

Is the match on TV?

No. The game is being played at 15.00 GMT so this match will not be available to watch live in the United Kingdom.
