How Championship clubs’ 2022-23 kit prices compare with each other

Ahead of Friday’s kick-off for the 2022/23 Championship season, we take a look at the prices of the new shirts

It’s four days until the 2022/23 Championship season kicks off and anticipation is building for one of the most unpredictable leagues in football.

Bristol City kick off their campaign with an away trip to Hull City after years of having the privilege of starting their season at home.

One of the most important components to mark a new season is teams kitting themselves out in new attires.

As part of agreements with kit manufacturers and sponsors, new shirts are revealed almost every season, though some teams do continue with what they wore last year sometimes.

English manufacturer Umbro is the most represented brand with Burnley, Huddersfield Town, Hull City and Luton Town all partnered with them.

Errea, Nike, Macron, Puma and City’s manufacturer Hummel are represented a few times but for Cardiff City and Watford, their kits are made by New Balance and Kelme, with no other teams in the division sharing the same kit maker as them.

Having the same kit manufacturer however doesn’t always mean that the kits are the same price with some being bespoke designs and others being templated which means more work is made into making them.

There have been some issues for many clubs over the course of this summer in getting their new gear. Factory shutdowns in Asia due to stringent Covid rules has meant delays in clubs being able to put the start on sale with 19 clubs out of 92 in the top four tiers not yet able to sell to supporters.

But a majority of designs have been shown to fans and it is only Sheffield United who have yet to reveal their new shirt after moving from Adidas to Errea.

Other than the Blades, Burnley are the only team not to have put a price on their shirt with that revealed on Friday, July 29. So without further ado, we’ve looked at the price of the Championship kit prices.

Do you think they are fair and have you been able to buy one?
