Former Bristol City midfielder Marlon Pack has confirmed his departure from rivals Cardiff City after his contract was not renewed.

The 31-year-old, who left Ashton Gate in 2019 for the Bluebirds, has seen his time in South Wales come to an end after falling out of favour.

Pack, who was sold for an undisclosed fee and joined up with former other Robins like Lee Tomlin, Aden Flint, and Bobby De-Cordova Reid, spent three years at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The midfielder’s three-year contract has come to an end and he has been informed that the club will not be renewing it with Steve Morison completely overhauling their first-team squad.

And he was quick to take to social media to thank supporters, as well as everyone he came across during his time with them.

In a message posted on his Instagram, Pack said: “My time at Cardiff City has come to an end, I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity to play for the club.

“I want to thank the fans for all your support over the past three seasons, especially during the pandemic and this season where it hasn’t gone how we all wanted.

“A special mention to all my teammates, the members of staff, the managers I’ve worked under, and the numerous people I’ve crossed paths with in and around the football club over the last three years.

He added: “I have made some great friends and met some fantastic people and that is what football is all about.

“Enjoy your summer and all the best in the future…”

Pack made 24 appearances in the Championship this season, starting 23 of them however he hadn’t made a league appearance since playing in the Severnside Derby defeat back in January.

In total, he made 109 appearances for Cardiff, scoring five goals and earning five assists, helping them to the play-offs in 2020, before enduring a relegation threatened campaign this time around.

His 2014/15 promotion-winning teammate Aden Flint is also out of contract, though the centre-back has played for Cardiff in their end-of-season run-in.

Pack follows Korey Smith out of South Wales after Smith’s contract wasn’t renewed by Cardiff’s bitterest rivals Swansea City.
