Bristol City recorded their highest league finish under Nigel Pearson after winning 2-0 against QPR on the final day.

Goals from Mark Sykes and Sam Bell in either half gave the Robins the victory at Loftus Road in front of a sold-out away end. It was a result that secured a 14th-placed finish, their highest since 2020.

Here’s how Bristol City’s players fared against QPR:

Max O’Leary - 7

O’Leary didn’t face much from QPR but when called upon did what was required of him.

Cameron Pring - 8

An exceptional first-half performance from Pring. He made two brilliant goal saving blocks and also got the assist for Sykes goal.

Kal Naismith (subbed off, 64) - 7

Defended resolutely and coped well with the threat of Chris Martin.

Zak Vyner - 8

Harshly booked for a foul in the first-half. He did well when defending his goal with some good blocks.

George Tanner - 7

It was the other full-back Pring that got the plaudits but Tanner didn’t do too badly either.

Matty James (subbed off, 84) - 7

Another sound performance from James. His performances aren’t flashy but he did the job.

Joe Williams (subbed off, 63) - 8

Brilliant pass to find Bell for the second goal. Shook off an early injury worry and commanded the midfield.

Sam Bell - 7

Got his goal after being found in the right place at the right time. He didn’t have many opportunities but took his chance.

Alex Scott - 7

Involved in the build-up to Sykes’ goal. He put in a classy display. Here’s hoping it’s not the last we see of him in a red shirt

Mark Sykes - 7

Sykes caused the QPR full-backs a fair few problems and showed his clinical side with a close-ranged finish.

Tommy Conway (subbed off, 64) - 6

Missed a good chance to make sure he’d win the Golden Boot.

Andi Weimann (subbed on, 63) - 6

Came on after QPR made a raft of changes. QPR’s subs took the game in their favour.

Anis Mehmeti subbed on, 63) - 6

Came on and showed some early promise but QPR controlled the rest of the half from the subs.

Nahki Wells (subbed on, 64) - 6

Not many chances to make the top scorer race at the club interesting.

Tomas Kalas (subbed on, 64) - 6

QPR tried to break down Bristol City but could not find that opening. Credit to Kalas for replacing Naismith, and keeping a clean sheet. Is that the last we see of him?

Andy King (subbed on, 84) - N/A
