Ex-Bristol City, Arsenal, Ipswich and, QPR player makes intriguing move after Scotland exit

Former Bristol City winger Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has ended his three-month search for a new club.

The 31-year-old was released a year early from his two-year contract at Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen back in April and has been contemplating his next step.

He was free to find his next venture and has decided to try his hand at playing in the Indian Super League by signing for Jamshedpur.

Jamshedpur are managed by former Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd, who was recently appointed after being relieved of his duties as England Under-21 boss last year.

They finished first last season but lost in the semi-finals of the ISL playoffs, which meant they would not qualify for the AFC Champions League.

Explaining his move to Asia, JET said: “The growth of Indian Football has been fascinating to follow and it’s a great feeling to be part of the ISL League Shield winners.

“It’s now time to rest the accolades from last season and work hard towards the next.

“Each game is going to be tough and my goal is to contribute to win as a team while playing exciting football and thrill the incredible fans of Jamshedpur each time we take to the field.”

He becomes the sixth non-Indian player to join the club and will become a teammate of former Bristol Rovers defender Peter Hartley, who is captain at the club.

It is his second venture abroad after a spell in Thailand with PTT Rayong in 2019 but they folded, paving his way for a return to the British Isles.

Emmanuel-Thomas spent two seasons At Ashton Gate as a player, enjoying one of his most successful spells. He left the West Country club having scored 33 goals in 103 appearances, including a stunning strike against the Gas in the EFL Trophy.

His career has seen him go from Queens Park Rangers, and MK Dons, as well as Thailand, before later spending the last two seasons with Livingston and Aberdeen respectively.
