Every Championship club’s average AWAY attendance for 2021/22 - where do Bristol City, Middlesbrough & Sheffield United rank?

Football fans in English football’s second tier have jumped at the chance to support their team again

The Championship each week sees thousands travel the length and breadth of the country to support their team.

No where in the world would you find such large levels of support for what is a second tier division, but in England you get just that.

At times, the Championship has ranked higher for attendances than some major top flight leagues in Europe with some massively populated clubs.

In what has been the first full season back with spectators following two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, fans have flocked to support their team both home and away.

For some supporters, it was a return to some old grounds they travelled to previously whilst for others, they’ve experienced new grounds and created new memories.

There have been some short journeys for fans to make, such as travelling to their local rivals in the hope of securing bragging rights, which has garnered some massive away followings, almost taking over the home support.

But there’s also been some lengthy away days, including some gruelling midweek fixtures with the fixture list taking a battering over the festive period.

No matter how long the journey was or the form of their team or how bad things have been for some, there has still been a loyal amount of support for their football clubs.

Below is the Championship table based on the average away attendances throughout the course of the 2021/22 season, according to data from EFLStats.
