Bristol City make the first of their remaining two away matches when they travel to Pride Park to face Derby County on April 23.

The Robins are slightly confident given they are unbeaten in their last three matches, with four points picked up over the Easter weekend.

Their opponents Derby meanwhile are dejected after their relegation from the Championship was confirmed on Monday. Their 36-year stay in English football’s top two divisions was brought to an end after a defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

A win for City could see them overtake Severnside rivals Cardiff City in 17th whilst Derby could at least move up to 22nd, which would slightly soften the blow of relegation.

When does the match start?

The game will kick-off at 15.00 GMT at Pride Park in Derby.

What’s the latest team news for Bristol City?

There is a slight doubt on Jay Dasilva who injured his knee and came off for Ayman Benarous on Monday. His injury is not thought to be serious but Nigel Pearson may be reluctant to play him if it aggravates it.

Joe Williams is back in consideration for selection after the midfielder didn’t play against the Blades, as Pearson carefully manages his game time.

There could be a return for Andy King, who was an unused substitute on Monday, whilst Callum O’Dowda is also pushing to be a part of the match day squad.

George Tanner could also be set for a rare outing having stepped up his recovery from an injury sustained in December.

What’s the latest team news for Derby County?

Max Bird is in contention again for Derby after serving his three-match ban. They will be without their captain though as Tom Lawrence was shown two yellow cards which will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Ravel Morrison was on the bench on Monday after missing the Fulham game through illness but is pushing for a start. Wayne Rooney has hinted that there could be some changes to his side as fringe players who may be in his side next season are given an opportunity.

Lawrence is their top scorer this season and has scored 11 goals in 37 appearances as well as five assists, ranking him as their top assister too.

Form guide and head-to-head

City have a good record against Derby as they have won four out of their last five league matches against them with their last defeat being at Pride Park last season. Derby do have a good home record though and no team has lost fewer home games than them with the Rams winning 11 of their 1 home games.

Pearson, who managed the club for a brief period, has won seven of his last eight Championship games against Derby and three of them have come at the ground he once called home. Another player making his return is Chris Martin who scored 67 goals in a seven-year spell for the Derbyshire outfit. He hasn’t got the best of records though since leaving them and hasn’t scored in the three games he’s played against them.

Derby hold the better all-time record over City with 38 wins to City’s 22 whilst there have also been 18 draws. Derby have only won one of their last five games against City.

Referee

Thomas Bramall has been appointed as the referee and he will be assisted by Nick Greenhalgh and Akil Howson with Geoff Eltringham the fourth official.

Bramall has overseen 30 games from the Championship to League One this season and has shown 97 yellow cards and three red cards, including three in a draw between West Brom and Cardiff. He was in charge of two of City’s games this season, a 2-1 win over Barnsley in October and the defeat to Birmingham in early March.

How to watch the match

As the game is being played during the television blackout hours in England, this is unable to be streamed or broadcasted to domestic audiences.

Highlights will also be made available on each club’s YouTube channel as well.
