Data experts predict Bristol City, Sheffield United and Cardiff City’s final Championship position

Bristol City have had a slow start to the Championship season and already predictions have been altered to factor in their back-to-back

Bristol City are yet to pick up a point in the Championship after suffering back-to-back defeats in their opening two matches.

The Robins tasted a 3-2 defeat to Sunderland at a sold-out Ashton Gate on Saturday, despite going in front through Chris Martin after Andi Weimann cancelled out debutant Ellis Simms’ opener for the Black Cats. Simms though did score as did Ross Stewart to secure a win for the newly promoted outfit, who have four points to City’s zero.

That loss was in addition to the opening day defeat to Hull City where again they went ahead but eventually lost, losing in controversial circumstances after a questionable penalty decision.

Before a ball was kicked, there were varying predictions as to how Nigel Pearson’s side might fare this season with some ranging from play-off contenders to the likes of Lee Hendrie predicting relegation.

That was based on the 17th-placed finish last season, but in context it was a transitional season after the club continued to cut their cloth and get high earners off of the wage bill.

At the moment, City are 23rd and only Huddersfield Town are the only team to be without a point, the Terriers are bottom on the virtue of goal difference.

Hoping to improve their fortunes, they have a chance to put things right this upcoming weekend. It’s another one of the teams that came up from League One as City make the trip up to Lancashire to face Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium who won the league title last season.

Here is where Bristol City feature in the new forecast made by those who think they can predict the outcome of the remainder of the season, based on information and statistics.
