Championship top scorer odds with Bristol City, Sunderland, Leeds Utd & Leicester City men ranked

The Golden Boot in the Championship is one of the best individual honours a player can win - but who will win it this season?

The 2023/24 Championship season will start in just over a few weeks, and one of the things on the agenda will be who comes out as the top scorer.

In most cases, the striker who leads the scoring charts usually gets a move to a club if he hasn't been promoted, or he's part of a side that has had some success that season. Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom lead the way last season with 28 goals, but Michael Carrick's side suffered a play-off semi-final defeat to Coventry City, and face another year in the second tier. Last season was Akpom's career best campaign and there is now an expectation that he will replicate his form, and help Boro who are one of the contenders for promotion.

The relegated sides Leeds United, Leicester City and Southampton all have strong squads, and their strikers have had the knack of scoring at this level. Jamie Vardy and Patrick Bamford both know where the net is, but surprisingly Vardy hasn't been tipped to be the Foxes leading man this season. Some strikers have also been signed up in the hope of replacing their marksman, like in Coventry City's case, as their 21-goal striker Viktor Gyokeres has signed for Sporting, and in his place is Ellis Simms, who enjoyed a scoring spell at Sunderland, before he was recalled from his loan.

In Bristol City's case, they had both Tommy Conway and Nahki Wells as their top scorers last season, and both got into double figures for the campaign, with Conway just edging it. Nigel Pearson has opted not to sign a striker this transfer window, and unless a bid comes in, that won't be changing.

Below is a gallery of 23 Championship clubs and their predicted top scorer for the season. In Rotherham United's case, they haven't had anyone tipped to win the Golden Boot, meanwhile there are some players who have the same odds, and so they've been jointly put together.
