Championship team of the week features Bristol City, Cardiff, Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday stars

The official Championship team of the week has been revealed for the matches played on April 9 and April 10.

Bristol City sent their fans home happy on Wednesday night as they thrashed Blackburn Rovers 5-0 at Ashton Gate.

The Robins put on one of their best performances of the campaign as they continued to solidify their place in the top-half of the table. As for Blackburn, they remain in a relegation battle with just three points separating them and the drop zone.

Tommy Conway was on target twice as he opened the scoring in the 24th minute before converting from 12-yards eight minutes later. Liam Manning made some changes in the second-half and substitute Anis Mehmeti increased the advantage with a goal with 73 minutes on the clock. Nahki Wells who replaced Tommy Conway scored a penalty five minutes after Mehmeti scored and then in the sixth minute of added on time, he added his second and City's fifth.

The victory saw Bristol City register their fourth clean sheet in a row with the mood around the Gate improving since the Easter period. A play-off spot looks out of reach but the team are certainly trying to build a platform for next season when Manning can be afforded a full transfer window and to assess the situation with the squad.

The action in the Championship started on Tuesday night with Millwall shocking then league leaders Leicester City. Plymouth Argyle drew 1-1 with QPR and Preston North End kept their play-off bid on track with a 4-1 win against Huddersfield Town. Sheffield Wednesday battled from two goals down to draw with Norwich City, whilst Southampton beat Coventry City and Sunderland held Leeds United to a goalless draw.

A day later when City were playing, Swansea City thrashed Stoke City 3-0 and at the Hawthorns there was a 2-0 win for West Brom against Rotherham United. Hull City and Middlesbrough could not be separated as they played to a 2-2 draw whilst Ipswich Town and Watford couldn't find the net in a stalemate. Bristol City’s Severnside rivals Cardiff put Birmingham City further in trouble with a 1-0 win at St Andrew’s.

Across the division there will have been players that will have played key roles in their side’s respective results. The EFL and WhoScored have come together to decide which players are in the Championship team of the week.
