Championship golden boot 2022/23: Every club’s top scorer predicted as Norwich, Watford and Swansea men tipped to perform

There’s a considerable difference in quality between the strikers of all 24 clubs in the Championship this season

The 2022/23 Championship season is just around the corner with nine days until it all begins again with it being a season like no other with a lengthy pause for the World Cup.

Losing play-off finalists Huddersfield Town host recently relegated Burnley on Friday, July 29, before an almost full set of fixtures with Bristol City travelling to Hull City on the opening day.

Most teams in English football's second tier will be content with their transfer business as the earlier clubs make their summer signings, the longer they have to adapt to their new team climate. There is still business to be done however with more than a month to go until the window slams shut for the summer registration period.

Every team would like a 15-20 goal a season striker as in usual cases that would result in success, but in City's case, Andi Weimann scored 20 goals and the Robins could only muster up a 17th placed finish.

There are some proven strikers in the division like Teemu Pukki, who two seasons ago with his goals, got promoted to the Premier League. Joel Piroe of Swansea City is a name that was a newcomer to the Championship last year but with 22 goals last season, he is no longer an unknown quantity.

One of the league favourites Watford meanwhile have an abundance of attacking options with the likes of Emmanuel Dennis, Adalberto Penaranda, Joao Pedro, Vakoun Vayo, Ismalia Sarr and Rey Manaj on their books, though whether a few will be here come the start of September, remains to be seen.

The Championship is a hard league to predict but BetFred have have made their best attempts to guess on who will finish as the top scorer for each of the 24 clubs.

Below is their findings, what do you make of it? Do you think they will live up to expectations?
