Bristol City’s 2022-23 Championship fixtures: Full schedule and key dates

All of Bristol City’s 2022/23 Championship fixtures as Robins away for start and finish of the regular season

Bristol City will start and finish their 2022/23 Championship season away from home after they were handed an opening day match away at Hull City.

The Robins for the first time since 2015/16 will start their campaign on the road and will take on a side they comfortably disposed of last season, winning 5-0 in their final home match of the season.

Ashton Gate will stage the first Severnside Derby of the season as City welcome Cardiff City, who could have five-time Champions League winner Gareth Bale in their ranks on Saturday, August 20. The corresponding fixture will then take place later in the season on Saturday, March 4.

Kasey Palmer, who recently left the club on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, will make his return to the West Country in a midweek fixture on Tuesday, October 4.

City's other derby with Welsh opposition will see them play at home again, hosting Russell Martin's side on Saturday, October 29, before another trip to South Wales in March, facing them on Saturday March 18.

To make up for the rescheduling of the footballing calendar because of a winter World Cup, 20 fixtures have been crammed in before an enforced break.

City's final game before a pause on the season will be a home match against recently relegated Watford, who are managed by Forest Green Rovers.

The season will resume on December 10 and they will play both Rotherham United away and Stoke City at home whilst international football's showpiece event goes on.

City will conclude their season on Saturday, May 6, where they will travel to West London to face Queens Park Rangers who are managed by Steven Gerrard's former assistant Michael Beale.

Ashton Gate will stage the first Severnside Derby of the season as City welcome Cardiff City, who could have five-time Champions League winner Gareth Bale in their ranks on Saturday, August 20. The corresponding fixture will then take place later in the season on Saturday, March 4.
