Bristol City player ratings vs West Ham: 'Deadly' midfielder scores 8/10 as 'razor-sharp' MOTM vital in FA Cup draw - gallery

West Ham 1-1 Bristol City

Bristol City earned an FA Cup third-round replay as they came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Premier League side West Ham at the London Stadium.

An early goal from Jarrod Bowen following an impressive pass from Lucas Paqueta saw the Hammers take a slender lead into the break.

The Robins drew level on the hour mark after Tommy Conway fired home from a Joe Williams through ball and Liam Manning's side saw out the draw comfortably.

The two sides will now face each other at Ashton Gate to decide who will progress into the fourth round of the competition.

West Ham piled early pressure on City, who struggled to cope with the pace of the game in the opening stages.

The Hammers’ positive start was rewarded four minutes in when a brilliant pass from Paqueta was latched onto by Bowen, who rounded Max O’Leary and slotted home.

Despite the far-from-ideal start, Manning’s side responded well. Zak Vyner’s lofted pass found Sam Bell, who beat Emerson and Kurt Zouma before firing his shot at goal which was pushed behind.

City began to impose themselves on the match without creating many openings, and they needed their goalkeeper to save from both Pablo Fornals and James Ward-Prowse and keep their deficit at just one goal.

The visitors began the second period on the front foot and carved a brilliant chance to equalise on the hour mark.

Jason Knight sent in a low cross from the right which eventually rolled through to the back post. Pring was arriving at full speed but could only fire his effort wide from close range.

The Robins, though, got their goal minutes later. A perfectly executed pass from Williams sent Conway through on goal, and the Scot made no mistake as he shot powerfully into the bottom corner.

David Moyes’ side began to see more of the ball after the equaliser as they searched for a winning goal.

An effort from Divin Mubama was the closest they came to a second, but a top-class Robins display made Manning’s side more than worthy of earning a replay.
