Bristol City have confirmed that Taylor Gardner-Hickman has joined the club permanently after his initial loan spell from West Bromwich Albion.

The 22-year-old midfielder has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract which will keep him at the Robins until the summer of 2027.

Gardner-Hickman has made 22 league appearances for the club so far, scoring once – a curling effort against Middlesbrough and was voted as the club’s Player of the Month for November by City supporters.

On signing, the midfielder said: “I’ve loved every minute of my time at City so far, the fans have been incredibly welcoming and I’m looking forward to the next few years.

“We’ve shown in recent performances what a good side we can be and we’re only going to get better.”

Head Coach Liam Manning said: “Taylor has been fantastic for us in his application and output and I’m delighted we have been able to secure his services on a permanent basis."

The midfielder has been a consistent member of the Robins' squad this season, with his excellent passing range and growing level of composure in the middle of the park.

Gardner-Hickman has enjoyed his newer role as one of the two holding midfielders in Manning's system, often playing alongside Joe Williams.

The permanent deal comes soon after it was confirmed that Andi Weimann has moved to the Baggies on loan until the end of the season.

The Robins captain, now 32-year-old, will be eager for more minutes at West Brom, with his contract at City expiring in the summer.
