The EFL agreed to rearrange the fixture and a new date and time will be confirmed in due course.

City supporters were unhappy at the timing of the announcement, coming just after noon on Christmas Day, but the decision follows on from several EFL games being similarly postponed at late notice, with the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to influence football.

Indeed, at the time of writing only two Championship fixtures are set to played on Boxing Day: Huddersfield vs Blackpool, and Middlesbrough vs Nottingham Forest.

English football has been hit hard by COVID-19 cases, with Steven Gerrard and Patrick Vieira both missing their respective Boxing Day games due to testing positive for the virus.

The Sky Bet Championship match had been due to take place tomorrow, Sunday 26th December, with a 3pm kick-off at Kenilworth Road.

The postponement is due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases within the Town playing squad, meaning the fixture cannot be fulfilled.

Any rearranged date will be confirmed in due course, with information on arrangements for tickets purchased shared once the Ticket Office reopens.

We would like to wish all Hatters a Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
