Bristol City and West Brom resume their Championship campaign at Ashton Gate on Saturday (3.00 pm) following a brief interval for the international break.

The Robins are just outside of the play-offs and claimed a win over Swansea City before the international period. Huddersfield Town meanwhile beat the Baggies, though with only four games into the season, there’s just one point separating these two sides.

Both Nigel Pearson and Carlos Corberan have several players that aren’t available to them this weekend, and both will have to work with what they have got.

With that in mind, below is the latest team and injury news for Bristol City and West Brom.

Bristol City team news

Ross McCrorie is a confirmed absentee, after Nigel Pearson ruled him out for the remainder of 2023. He suffered a knock in pre-season, but then was found to have been dealing with something that has required surgery.

Rob Atkinson is making a recovery from an ACL injury, and will begin training in November. He is likely to play in a few under-21s games to get himself up to speed, and would likely make an appearance for the first team towards the end of December or the start of 2024.

Ayman Benarous is another player that has been dealing with an ACL injury, and whilst recovering from a second consecutive one, he suffered a knock which has delayed his return. The 20-year-old midfielder should return to training in October.

In a non-injury related bit of team news, Taylor Gardner-Hickman is ineligible to play against his former club. George Tanner could fill in the role should the Midlands club decide that they do not want to face their own player.

Meanwhile Saturday will come too soon for Andi Weimann. He has been dealing with plantar facilitis since the beginning of the season, and was twice substituted off against Preston North End and Hull City, having complained of pain in his feel. His injury is not expected to be serious though the club are monitoring his situation.

Out: Ross McCrorie, Tommy Conway, Rob Atkinson, Andi Weimann, and, Ayman Benarous.

Adam Reach is unavailable for West Brom for the next few months after suffering a quad injury in pre-season. He has undergone surgery, and that has likely put an end to his contribution for 2023.

United States striker Daryl Dike meanwhile is making a positive recovery from an Achilles problem against Stoke City, which has had him sidelined for the last few months. Dike has suffered several serious injuries, but could return in either November or December for the Midlands outfit.

Former Liverpool right-back Martin Kelly’s availability meanwhile is uncertain. He suffered an injury whilst out on loan at Wigan Athletic last term, and was due to return to training in August.

Out: Adam Reach, Daryl Dike and Martin Kelly.
